To really live is a creative act. Being alive entails a beautiful, continual unfolding of transformation over time. It follows, then, that we often feel disconnected from our true natures when we are experiencing the confusion doubt, worry, and fear that so often accompany depression, anxiety, and other adversities. These experiences produce a familiar 'stuckness' that inhibits our inherent capacities for growth.
Perhaps counterintuitively, a goal of therapy is not to get to some fixed destination or force ourselves to think, feel, or act in a specific, ideal way. Therapy is a space within which we learn to allow ourselves to step out of that 'doing' mindset, and instead practice 'being' who we actually are-right there, right now. In the process of cultivating this awareness of things as they are, we develop self-compassion, curiosity, and openness to our own experience. Reconnecting with this flow of aliveness in ourselves ultimately yields a deeper sense of authenticity and choicefulness - and real change in our lives often follows.
My approach strives to be humanistic, existential, and non-judgmental at heart, and I enjoy working with people of all identities and walks of life. I value a relational, attachment-based style, as one of the most useful things about therapy is that it offers support through relationship. Additionally, an area of focus in my practice is helping clients create meaning from their psychedelic and spiritual experiences - I welcome the inner wisdom that such events can reveal.
